Microsoft Dynamics™ GP is a comprehensive accounting and business management system. It supports business processes at all levels, scaling to meet the requirements of SME’s and complex business processes in the corporate market. Microsoft Dynamics™ GP modules are collections of applications that work together to meet a number of closely related accounting and business management goals.
Architecture
Microsoft Dynamics™ GP is designed with an open architecture, providing a number of ways that the application can be tailored to suit specific requirements and integrated with other third party applications and external data sources.At a high level, the architecture can be defined in four components: the database layer, the data dictionary layer, the business logic layer, and the user interface.
Integrating other applications and external data sources should occur at the business logic layer, which provides data validation and the best possible performance. Integrating to the database layer is complex and introduces the possibility that data will not be validated; whilst modifying the user interface can result in reduced application performance.
In the following diagram, the four layers of the architecture are illustrated. There is a close relationship between the business logic layer and the data dictionary layer since the data dictionary defines the business logic rules.
